Alan Plumb: Strawberry Hill GC
As we start the New Year, it is with immense sadness that we inform our members of the passing of Alan Plumb from Strawberry Hill Golf Club.
Alan was a dedicated friend and supporter to all in our county, recognised often as the “go to” guy for all who knew him, whenever there was an issue to be resolved. He left a lasting memory to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Celebrated both in his club, county and in 2022 decorated by his country, when he was awarded Volunteer of the Year by England Golf.
Alan was the volunteer that all could measure themselves against and he was second to none. He had a passion for encouraging people from all walks of life and ages to get into golf. Junior Golf was of particular interest to Alan and he had a remarkable talent in nurturing young talent.
One of his great golfing loves was seeing his endeavours come to fruition, particularly when a young player or academy player progressed within the game. He really made a difference to so many golfers in our county.
Our thoughts are with Alan’s family and all the members of Strawberry Hill at this sad time.
