FRANK ROWSE TROPHY FINAL

Northwood Golf Club, Sunday 20th September

Northwood Golf Club hosted our Frank Rowse Trophy final. This competition is named after a highly regarded Amateur golfer from West Middlesex Golf Club. He won our County Championship in 1930. This competition was first contested in 1936 and won by West Middlesex Golf Club. It has also been won by former Middlesex clubs such as Home Park, Hadley Wood, Ruislip and Whitewebbs.

The course was in excellent shape and is recovering well from the recent summer drought. Our two finalists were Stanmore Golf Club and Sudbury Golf Club. The morning Foursomes saw Sudbury take a 3-1 led into the afternoon singles. Stanmore started the afternoon session quickly and were up in 5 of the 8 matches at one point. However, Sudbury fought back to halve the afternoon matches, giving them a 7-5 victory. The matches were all very close and the games were played in great spirit as you would expect from these seasoned campaigners.

Massive thanks to Jonathan, Richard and the F&B team at Northwood. The food was fab, the course was excellent and a special thanks to the members for giving up your course to host this prestigious County final.
