Enfield Golf Club were our gracious hosts for the 2026 Middlesex Mid-Amateur Championships. Our over 35 stalwart golfers battled the extreme heat and a tricky course to be crowned as champion.Â
The team spoils go to North Middlesex GC, with Seb Frankiss, Ben O’Sullivan, Thomas Sharp and Tom Owen.
Our Nett winner is Martin Walsh from Pinner Hill.
However, 36 holes wasn’t enough to separate Highgate’s Tyler Dunham and Ashford Manor’s Craig O’Shea. And so we went into extra holes. Our Chief Referee chose the 13th, 14th and 18th holes to decide our sudden death play-off. Both players tee shots were arrow straight as you would expect from players both holding plus handicaps. Craig was first to play. His gap wedge was safe but long, over the pin to the back of the green. Tyler’s approach was to the heart of the green but the slope took his ball to the left hand edge, 16ft away. So, it was craig to putt first from 25ft. Craig rolled his putt up to 7ft. Tyler’s attempt rolled up to 6ft short. Craig rolled in his par putt, leaving Tyler with a putt to take the championship to the next extra hole. Tyler’s putt just lipped out, leaving Craig as our Champion for 2026. The play-off was played in great spirit with both players playing great golf.
Special thanks to Enfield Golf Club for hosting and providing their course in excellent shape. Huge thanks to Jonathan Foster for not only being starter for both rounds but also for marshalling the tricky 13th hole, all day long. I don’t know where he gets his energy! Thanks to Emma and her team for tasty food and excellent hospitality. All of the players were very complimentary about the course, the clubhouse and the welcome they received.
