Highgate Golf Club was delighted to welcome 18 teams from 16 different Middlesex clubs to this year’s 26th Lorna Peters Memorial Tournament. The 54 players were blessed with glorious autumn sunshine and some exceptionally high scores.
The players all seemed to enjoy the course, which is recovering well after the prolonged drought conditions over the summer. Our greens received particularly positive comments, although many teams found them a challenging test!
Thank you to all the clubs and their players who came along to support this much-loved ‘end of term’ gathering.
Many thanks also to the Highgate ladies who came to help before the shotgun start, making sure that all the teams got to the right place at the right time. It makes such a difference to have welcoming faces there to greet everyone on arrival.
A huge thank you to Peter Winterburn in the office for dealing with all the administration and scorecards, and to the in-house team, headed by Jo Wilson , who looked after us all so well at breakfast and lunch.
Jennifer Winn, a long-standing friend of Lorna, gave a fascinating and very informative talk about Lorna at lunch. It was a lovely opportunity to hear more about her, and we certainly felt that we knew Lorna a little better as a result. Thank you, Jennifer.
Our thanks also go to Highgate’s President, Mike Clack, who kindly presented the cup and prizes to the winning teams.
Lastly huge thanks to Sue Drummond for all her years of organising these Tournaments.
