Middlesex vs Essex – Men’s County Team

Men's County Team vs Essex at Northwood GC on Sunday 27th July

THE MEN’S COUNTY TEAM played their last fixture of the season against Essex at Northwood GC on Sunday 27th July.  We were 3-1 down after the morning Foursomes against a formidable side from  Essex. Despite the deficit, our boys battled bravely in the afternoon singles. We eventually lost by 9 games to 3.

However, the score isn’t a true reflection of the match. Many of the games were closer that the score would suggest. There were some stand-out performances. Brett Harris finished his singles early with a 7&5 win and the ever dependable Justin “The Finisher” Phelps also romped home with a 3&2 victory. Leo Walton impressed on debut, and Craig O’Shea came up just short to a kick in birdie from his opponent.

We have some strong talent coming through and with the right blend of talent and experience we can look forward to Winter Training and coming back fresher & stronger next season.

A huge thanks to all of our team who have taken part in County matches this season. Also, our County Team Manager, Alan Megson in his first Season & ever-present Team Captain, Will Orridge.

Our team for the final match was:

Will Orridge, from Enfield GC, Brett Harris, Craig O’Shea & Tom Randall, all from Ashford Manor GC, Niall Keogh & Dan Parsons, from Sudbury GC, Justin Phelps from Northwood GC and Leo Walton from Fulwell GC.
