Senior Women’s Summer Meeting

The Middlesex Senior Women’s Summer Meeting was held at Finchley Golf Club on Wednesday 5th August. Temperatures were a tad more temperate than the recent heatwaves.  At one point we even saw a couple of drops of rain, not enough to dampen the spirits or to turn the faiways green!

Scoring conditions were good as attested by the scores returned. More than half of the field were under par in this 4BBB stableford format. The best front 9 score was claimed by Heather Wood and Kru Desai from Muswell Hill Golf Club. The back 9 prize went to Lesley Blumberg and Lesley Whiterow, also from Mussie, on count-back from Carole Golten and Sally Field from home club Finchley. There were two Nearest the Pin winners on the day. Lesley Blumberg on the 12th and Heather Wood on the 15th. 

On to the main prizes. Our Runners Up are Lesley Blumberg and Lesley Whiterow, who won on count-back from Finchley’s Anne Iarchy and Maureen McCabe and Muswell Hill pair Kru Desai and Heather Wood. All 3 pairs scored an excellent tally of 39 points. However, our winners are Maggie Pinner and Helen Longman from Grims Dyke GC. Our champs shot a blistering 43 points to grab the spoils.

Also, big thanks to Phil Stokes and the team at Finchley. The course was in excellent shape, especially the greens and everyone commented on the food, the welcome and the hospitality.
